BCS College Football Rankings

The big thing for me this week isn’t even the fact that the Oklahoma Sooners edged the University of Texas in the BCS rankings allowing the Sooners to play in the Big 12 Championship game even though Texas defeated them by 10 points this year. I understand why Oklahoma edged Texas in the BCS even though I don’t like the result. The answer is strength of schedule. The big thing for me is that USC fans are crying like babies that their Trojans aren’t at the top of the charts and they’re screaming that it’s proof that the BCS doesn’t work. I have news for you Trojan fans. USC is not at the top of the rankings precisely because the BCS does work. Your team may or may not be one of the toughest teams in the nation but we have no way of knowing because they played a pussified schedule.

Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech manned up and played tough schedules. If they would have all went your route it’s quite possible that all three would have went undefeated which would have meant that one of them (along with Boise State who also took the low road) would have been left out of the national championship despite being undefeated which would have left football fans screaming that a system needs to be put in place to reward teams for strength of schedule. Oh wait, that’s already happened, and you guys failed to get the memo because you are a bunch of gigantic pussies. You want to know how to get to the big dance in the era of the BCS? Play a schedule against the big boys like Oklahoma did and then maybe there will be something to talk about.

P.S. and if the Oklahoma team goes down in a plane crash then Texas, Florida, and Texas Tech all played tougher schedules than you so they deserve to be there before you so nyaah.

Oh, and just for the record, none of this is Obama’s business, so he should butt out.

You know, I’ve been freaked out about government interference in professional sports ever since the government had the baseball steroid hearings and when Rush Limbaugh had a short stint as a football announcer. Sports should be non partisan. When I watch large people smash each other for entertainment, I want it to be without any hateful undercurrents.

You’re talking about basketball, right? Did they make a homerun?

  4. YOWSA! Well said. My two fave teams on the planet are Penn State and Oklahoma. I despise U of T with a passion. Couldn’t be happier about OU in the Big 12 Championship game…

Oh, and sorry about kicking the Spartans ass this year. NOT!

  5. mexi says:

Oh pleeeeez. Your team squeaks out a 31 point win against MSU and you want to characterize it as an ass kicking??? Whatever.

    Oh and hi Jenn!!!! 😀

  6. Texas’ preseason opponents

Rice, UTEP and FLorida Atlantic? Yeah those Guys are powers

    Texas Tech’s preseason Opponents

Eastern Washington, Nevada, Southern Methodist and UMASS another who’s who of college football prowess

    USC non conference schedule

Ohio State, Virginia and Notre Dame mush better than the two Texas teams

    Oklahome non-conference shedule
    Chatanooge(0-11) Washington(0-11) , TCU (Legit) and Cincinnati(legit)

Verdict Mexigogue is right, The system works

The Pac 10 is so incredibly weak that it is incumbent upon USC, if they want to be taken seriously, to play all elite teams on their non conference schedule. The Big 12 is so tough that those teams can afford to play some weak teams for their non-conference games, because they’re already playing elite teams week in and week out in their conference. But don’t take it from me, the BCS shows that USC’s strength of schedule is weaker than any of those of the other top tier teams and even weaker than Michigan State’s.

  8. I agreed with you! Don’t make me come up there!!!

The only time I deleted your comments were when you and whatever her name is was having that flame war on the blog. The flame war was hilarious by the way but that’s entirely beside the point. Anyhoo I don’t have any intention of deleting your comments 😀
